Whether you get a chance to check out one of Justin Timberlake’s outdoor-themed Man Of The Woods Tour shows this year or not, the “Filthy” singer is officially bringing the woods to you all the time. In partnership with American Express, Timberlake launches a new mobile AR experience, Outside In, today (April 6).
Located in the American Express Music App, Justin Timberlake Outside In allows fans to dive a little deeper into the stories behind the Man Of The Woods album, with the superstar acting as their personal guide. The mixed reality imagery brings a full shot of Justin to the screen, making it feel like JT is literally in fans’ living rooms as he discusses his latest LP.
Once fans have heard everything from Justin, Outside In then turns the singer’s MOTW track “Breeze Off the Pond” into a totally immersive experience, sending fans to a real Montana setting where they can explore as the song plays and Timberlake shares details of how it came together — all while they actually see breeze off the pond before their eyes. Various icons around the mountainous scene provide different experiences for the user, such as shopping an exclusive Man Of The Woods merchandise collection including long sleeve tees, sweatshirts and, of course, flannel.
“We surprised fans and Card Members with exclusive first listens of the album leading up to its release and are excited to connect on a deeper level with the Outside In experience on the American Express Music app,” Timberlake said of the new experience in a statement. “The first-of-its-kind, mixed reality experience uses cutting-edge technology to bring me directly to my fans; walk them through the concept of my new album and provide access to purchase specially designed merch in collaboration with Levi’s, Heron Preston, Ryan McGinley and more.”
